The Ministry of External Affairs has conveyed its protest to the Pakistan government, urging it to ensure safety, security and well-being of its minority communities following reports that Shri Mari Mata Mandir in Karachi was vandalised recently.

According to the FIR, five men on motorcycles stopped by the temple late on Wednesday night and inquired about the whereabouts of the caretaker. When two workers renovating the temple said the caretaker wasn't available, they started pelting an idol with stones.

A case has been registered against the miscreants and the police are trying to obtain CCTV footage of the area to arrest the suspects.

A Chinese military jet crashed in a residential area in central China's Hubei Province on Thursday, killing one person and injuring two others in the country's third aviation accident in over two months.

A Marine Corps Osprey aircraft carrying five Marines crashed on Wednesday in the Southern California desert and civilian and military emergency crews were responding, but there were no immediate details about any injuries or fatalities, the military said.

The MV-22B Osprey belonged to the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing based at Camp Pendleton and went down at 12:25 p.m. during training, said Maj. Mason Englehart, spokesman for the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, an aviation unit headquartered at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, in San Diego, about 115 miles (185 kilometers) west of the crash site near the community of Glamis in Imperial County.

The tiltrotor aircraft can take off and land as a helicopter but transit as a turboprop aircraft.

Englehart said he had no further details yet to release about the five Marines who were on board.

Philadelphia, June 5

Three people have died and at least 11 other people were wounded in a shooting late Saturday night in Philadelphia, authorities said.

The Philadelphia Police Department responded to reports of a person with a gun in a large crowd.

Police Inspector D. F. Pace said during a news conference that shots were fired into the downtown crowd and an officer shot at a suspect. It is unclear if the suspect was hit.

"You can imagine there were hundreds of individuals just enjoying South Street, as they do every single weekend, when this shooting broke out," Pace said.

The conditions of those who were wounded by gunfire remains unknown.

Authorities say no arrests have been made but that two weapons were recovered.

The department said on Twitter to avoid the area and that several people were injured.

Several explosions took place early on Sunday in Ukraine's capital, Kyiv, Mayor Vitali Klitschko said.

"Several explosions in Darnytskyi and Dniprovskyi districts of the capital," Klitschko wrote on the Telegram messaging app.

"Services are already working on site. More detailed information ndash; later," he wrote.

A Reuters witness saw smoke in the city after the explosions.

Air raid sirens had gone off earlier across much of Ukraine, including in the Kyiv region.

Chesterfield (US), June 4

One person was fatally shot and five other people were wounded by gunfire in a shooting on Friday near Richmond, authorities said.

The Chesterfield County Police Department said in a statement that police were responding to reports of shots fired at about 9.38 pm in Chester, Virginia.

The violence broke out at a party, local news outlets reported.

Arriving officers discovered a man suffering from a gunshot wound, police said.

He died at the scene. Five others were shot and taken to local hospitals or other treatment facilities, authorities said.

Two other people suffered non-gun-related injuries, authorities said.

An investigation is ongoing. Chester is about 24 km south of Richmond. AP

Beijing, June 4

A passenger train accident in southwestern China on Saturday killed the driver and injured eight people, state broadcaster CCTV reported.

As the Guangzhou-bound train was about to enter a tunnel in Guizhou province, it ploughed into debris deposited on the tracks by a mudslide, derailing two carriages and killing the driver, CCTV reported.

Of the eight injured, seven were passengers and one was a member of the train staff. All other 136 passengers were safe.

The derailed train is a D-class train service that moves at a slower speed than the country's fastest G-class high-speed trains.

The accident on Saturday morning happened during a long-weekend which typically sees heavier passenger flows as people take advantage of the public holiday to travel inter-city.

China's rail network, with an operating route length of about 150,000 km, is the second largest in the world. Reuters
