Sky News host Rita Panahi discussed how Victoria’s ban on plastic straws will see individuals or businesses fined for supplying or distributing the item. The ban will take effect in 2023, with the aim to reduce plastic pollution. “We know where the overwhelming majority of the plastic pollution in our oceans comes from, is from a number of Asian countries where rubbish is routinely dumped in waterways,” she said. “They’re not coming from straws and plastic bags in Melbourne or Sydney.”
