Prashant Kishor news: Ending days of speculation, poll strategist Prashant Kishor on Tuesday said he won't join the Congress to assist the party in its plans for 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The Congress had offered Kishor to join the party as a member of a committee.

At least 4 people were killed after an armed man opened fire at a kindergarten in Russia’s Ulyanovsk region on Tuesday, the Interfax news agency reported.

Several people including foreigners are feared dead in a blast inside the University of Karachi in the Karachi city of Pakistan's Sindh province on Tuesday afternoon. Initial reports suggest that four people lost their lives when a car exploded inside the premises of the university. The deceased persons include two Chinese language teachers, both women.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday dismisses a petition seeking a judicial commission to probe the recent communal violence in Delhi's Jahangirpuri and in seven other states during Ram Navami. A bench of Justices L Nageswara Rao and BR Gavai told petitioner advocate Vishal Tiwari not to ask for relief which cannot be granted and dismissed his plea.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday raided multiple premises in Mumbai, Pune and Surat in connection with a money laundering probe against ABG Shipyard Ltd in an alleged Rs 22,842 crore bank loan fraud case. The civic body in Gujarat's Himmatnagar on Tuesday morning launched a demolition drive. The bulldozers razed illegal constructions in the area amid heavy police deployment. The demolition in Himmatnagar is reminiscent of what had happened in Delhi's Jahangirpuri last week. Bulldozers tore down several concrete and temporary structures close to a mosque in Jahangirpuri as part of an anti-encroachment drive by the BJP-ruled civic body, days after the northwest Delhi neighbourhood was rocked by communal violence. However, the Supreme Court put a stay on the demolition drive and posted the matter for hearing in May. 

Delhi on Tuesday recorded a minimum temperature of 24.9 degrees Celsius, one notch above the normal, according to the India Meteorological Department. The maximum temperature is expected to hover around 42 degrees Celsius.

A massive fire broke out in Haryana's Gurugram late on Monday. The blaze was reported from Manesar. The fire, that broke out in shanties near sector 6 of Manesar was reported following a massive dust storm in Delhi-NCR during the evening. 

An old and rusted grenade was recovered in Delhi's Mohammadpur area in the wee hours of Tuesday. According to the details, the Delhi police had received a call informing them of an unidentified bag in the area, on Monday evening. Following the call, the police, along with the Bomb Disposal Squad reached the spot and recovered the grenade.

Former BJP MP Kirit Somaiya late on Saturday alleged Shiv Sena workers hurled footwear and water bottles at his SUV when he was leaving Khar police station in Mumbai. Somaiya had gone to the police station to meet arrested independent MP Navneet Rana and her MLA husband Ravi Rana, whose earlier call for chanting Hanuman Chalisa outside Maharashtra Chief Minister and Sena president Uddhav Thackeray's residence 'Matoshree' had angered the Sena cadres. The BJP leader tweeted that he was injured in the attack by "Shiv Sena goons" and was going to the Bandra police station to file a complaint. Somaiya then travelled to the Bandra police station to file a complaint against Sena supporters. On the other hand, Sena supporters claimed that Somaiya's driver tried to knock them down after leaving the Khar police station.

Police allowed Shiv Sena goons to attack under the pressure of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government, former Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said following the alleged attack on Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Kirit Somaiya. 

A terrorist linked to the terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) was arrested by the Jammu and Kashmir police on Saturday. Giving out details, police said the arrested terrorist, identified as Shafiq Ahmed Sheikh, is a resident of Tral. According to police, the arrested terrorist was part of JeM's plan to attack security forces in Jammu and Kashmir.

Senior BJP leader Kirit Somaiya was allegedly attacked by Shiv Sena workers after he left Khar police station. Somaiya had gone there to meet BJP leaders Navneet Rana and Ravi Rana. Taking to Twitter, Somaiya wrote: "This is 3rd time Uddhav Thackeray's Gundas tried to kill me, first at Vashim then Pune and now at police station (Khar, Mumbai) itself."  

The Mumbai Police on Saturday evening arrested Independent Amravati MP Navneet Rana and her husband Badnera MLA Ravi Rana, who were in the center of the 'Hanuman Chalisa' row. They had plans to storm Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray's residence. The charges against the couple -- Navneet Rana, 36, and Ravi Rana, 40, who describe themselves as 'farmers' - pertain to disturbing peace and order, and making inflammatory statements, by the Khar Police Station following a complaint by Shiv Sena activists.

A suspicious bag was found outside Chandigarh's Burail Jail on Saturday, police said. The jail administration immediately called the Bomb Detterence Squad along with the Dog Squad from Chandi Mandir, Army's western command area.

In another incident involving an electric vehicle explosion, a 40-year-old man was killed on Saturday just a day after buying a new vehicle in Vijayawada. He was charging the battery in his bedroom when the explosion took place.  

Amid rumors of a leadership change in Rajasthan, CM Ashok Gehlot on Saturday said that his resignation is permanently present with Sonia Gandhi. The senior Congress leader quashed rumors, and said that "the Chief Minister will change when it has to be changed and no one will get to know anything about it."

Four persons have been arrested in connection with local Delhi BJP leader Jitu Chaudhary's murder. BJP leader Jitu Chaudhary was shot dead by bike-borne miscreants outside his home in Delhi's Mayur Vihar late on Wednesday (April 20). Delhi Police officers, who were investigating the case, said that the BJP leader was killed due to mutual enmity.
