Promising Indian player Anahat Singh won the gold medal in the girls Under-15 category at the Asian Juniors Squash Championships in Pattaya, Thailand.

The tournament, which started in the picturesque beach town on Wednesday, concluded on Sunday.

The 14-year-old Anahat defeated Kwong Ena of Hong Kong 3-0 in the final to claim the top prize.

She reached the finals without dropping a single game in the tournament.

Anahat had defeated Malaysian top seed Whitney Isabelle Wilson 3-0 in the semi-finals.

So far, Anahat has won 46 national circuit titles, two national championships and eight international titles.

She is the only Indian girl to win the US Junior Open in any category and the British Junior Open.

At 14, Anahat will be the youngest player to represent India at the World Juniors Squash Championships in Nancy, France later this year.

At least two persons were injured after a boulder slid from the hill crushing a hut in the Bhim Tekadi area of New Bharat Nagar in Chembur, RCF police informed.

The incident took place in the wee hours on June 19.

Vilas Dattar, PI, RCF Police station, said that two persons were injured in the incident and have been admitted to the Sion hospital.

The injured persons have been identified as Arvind Ashok Prajapati (25) and Ashish Ashok Prajapati (20).

Ward staff have been mobilized on the incident site to take stock of the situation, said the police.

Palghar: A section engineer with the railways allegedly committed suicide in his home in Virar in Palghar district, a police official said on Sunday.

Nitesh Chourasia (36) shot himself with a revolver in his Vartak Nagar home at around 11:30pm on Saturday when his wife and son were in another room, Senior Inspector Suresh Warade of Virar police station said.

"As per the suicide note found at the scene, Chourasia was depressed for the past six to seven years, due to which he took this step. He has stated that no one is to be blamed for the incident," Warade informed.
