A man has been charged with a fatal shooting in Morgan Park in September, police said.

Nykee Owens, 19, is accused of killing 30-year-old Kenard Milsap at a backyard gathering, according to Chicago police.

Milsap was shot just after 2 a.m. Sept. 24 in the 11800 block of South Hale Avenue, police said.

Owens was charged with first-degree murder after being arrested this week. He was scheduled to appear in bond court Friday.

At least eight vehicles were involved in a crash Thursday night in Elgin, according to the Elgin Police Department.

The accident occurred near the intersection of Route 20 and McLean Boulevard just before 6:30 p.m., police said.

There were only minor injuries, but one person was taken to a local hospital, police said.

Police said the accident was likely snow-related, as the weather may have caused slick road conditions.

A man was shot to death Dec. 8 during an argument in Douglas on the South Side.

Romell Avila, 31, was standing on a sidewalk in the 100 block of East 28th Street when a gray SUV pulled up just before 9 a.m., Chicago police said.

Two men stepped out of the vehicle and began to argue with Avila before shooting him multiple times, police said.

Avila was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he later died, police said.

Area detectives are investigating.

A man was fatally shot Saturday evening at a Jackson Park home.

John Maruszak, 33, was at a residence in the 2000 block of East 67th Street when someone shot him in his head about 6:10 p.m., according to Chicago police.

Maruszak was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center, where he later died, police said.

No one was in custody.
