A 14-year-old boy and a 25-year-old man were wounded in a shooting Tuesday afternoon in West Garfield Park on the West Side.

About 4:30 p.m., the two were in a convenience store in the first block of South Kostner Avenue when at least one suspect left a vehicle and opened fire, Chicago police said.

The boy was taken to Stroger Hospital with gunshot wounds to his right hand and left leg, police said. He was reportedly in good condition.

The man went to the Rush University Medical Center with a gunshot wound to his right leg, officials said. He was also listed in good condition.

No one was in custody.

SAN DIEGO – The Cubs made their first big move of the offseason on Tuesday, agreeing to terms with center fielder Cody Bellinger on a one-year deal worth $17.5 million, a Sun-Times source confirmed.

Bellinger landed on the free agent market when the Dodgers non-tendered him last month. He won the NL MVP just three years ago. But his offensive production has slipped in the years since. He was hampered by injuries in the 2021 season when his batting average dipped to .165. In 2022, he hit .210 with 19 home runs. 

Bellinger’s agent, Scott Boras, said earlier on Tuesday that he’d received multi-year offers for Bellinger but that they preferred a one-year deal.
