[VOA] Algeria has suspended a two-decade-old friendship treaty with Spain.
[RFI] Algeria has suspended a 20-year-old cooperation treaty with Spain after Madrid reversed decades of neutrality on the Western Sahara conflict.
[DW] Algeria said its decision was due to Spain's "unjustifiable turnaround" over the Western Sahara region. Earlier this year, Spain recognized Morocco's plans for the disputed territory, sparking tensions with Algeria.
[SPS] Castries (Saint Lucia) -- The Polisario Front representative to the United Nations, Sidi Mohamed Omar, stressed that the exercise by the Sahrawi people of its right to self-determination will remain "the only option" to resolve the conflict in Western Sahara, warning against the Moroccan project to "change the demographic nature of the territory.
[SPS] New York -- The New York Support Group for the Independence of Western Sahara called on the UN Security Council to find a way to enable the United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO) to accomplish its main mission consisting in the organization of a referendum on self-determination in Africa's last colony.
[SPS] New York -- The representative of the Polisario Front to the United Nations and Coordinator with MINURSO Sidi Mohamed Omar underlined that the only applicable option for the settlement of the conflict in Western Sahara is to enable the Sahrawi people to exercise their right to self-determination and independence.
[DW] Tensions between the two north African neighbors have risen again after reports of a Moroccan air strike. Algeria has claimed that the attack was "targeted."

[SPS] El Aaiun (Occupied Territories) -- The Moroccan occupation authorities at the occupied Airport of El Aaiun banned Thursday the President of the Sahrawi Body against Moroccan Occupation (ISACOM), Aminatou Haidar, from travelling to Spain, on the grounds that it did not have a Moroccan vaccination passport, refusing to recognize the Spanish-European vaccination passport that she holds.
[allAfrica] In November 2020, the Moroccan government sent its military to the Guerguerat area, a buffer zone between the territory claimed by the Kingdom of Morocco and the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR). The Guerguerat border post is at the very southern edge of Western Sahara along the road that goes to Mauritania.
