New Delhi, April 16

Prime Minister of Mauritius Pravind Kumar Jugnauth will visit India from April 17 to 24 at a time when both sides are poised to expand their security and economic ties.

Jugnauth and PM Narendra Modi will participate in the ground-breaking ceremony of the WHO Global Centre for Traditional Medicine in Jamnagar on April 19 and the Global Ayush Investment and Innovation Summit in Gandhinagar on April 20. Apart from official engagements in Gujarat and New Delhi, the Prime Minister of Mauritius will also visit Varanasi during the visit.

The visit comes a month after Mauritius joined the conclave of National Security Advisors (NSAs) under the Colombo Security Conclave. Mauritius thus became the fourth member of the South Asian maritime security trilateral, comprising India, Sri Lanka and the Maldives. "As maritime neighbours, we face common security challenges. Our national security is deeply intertwined with our collective security aspirations in the region," NSA Ajit Doval had said on the occasion.
