New Delhi, April 12
Despite a change of guard in Islamabad, India and the US have asked Pakistan to take "immediate, sustained, and irreversible action" to ensure that no territory under its control is used for terrorist attacks and called for the perpetrators of the 26/11 Mumbai attack and the Pathankot attack to be brought to justice.
The Ministers called on Pakistan to take immediate, sustained, and irreversible action to ensure that no territory under its control is used for terrorist attacks," said the joint statement after the meeting. India and the US will continue the exchange of information about sanctions and designations against terror groups and cross-border movement of terrorists, it added.
"They called for concerted action against all terrorist groups, including groups proscribed by the UNSC 1267 Sanctions Committee, such as Al-Qaida, ISIS, LeT, JeM, and Hizbul Mujahideen," it added. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said the meeting discussed how terrorism had been used against India.
The four Ministers also touched on developments in Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. "It wasn't a detailed discussion, but it did come up," said a US official. — TNS
