Western Australia's peak doctors' lobby has accused the state’s health authorities of refusing to release basic data to provide COVID information to the public. Authorities have instead offered a basic version of the model, which was the basis for the states’ two-year-long border restrictions and other public health restrictions, some of which are still in place. Australian Medical Association WA President Dr Mark Duncan-Smith is calling for the full release of the full modelling so “it can actually be scrutinised”. He said the lack of transparency means there is “no way” we can analyse the modelling to determine where the state government is in the COVID pandemic and if they are ahead of the curve or not. “There is no way that we can actually look at this modelling and use it and say whether or not the government – and the state, for that matter, the people of Western Australia – are ahead of the curve, behind the curve or where they are on the curve because we don’t even know what day zero was,” he told Sky News Australia.
