The founder of Climate 200 and renewables activist Simon Holmes à Court “talks a big game,” but Australian voters have a right to be sceptical, according to Sky News Digital Editor Jack Houghton. Mr Houghton said Mr Holmes à Court has raised millions of dollars to bankroll Independents running against sitting Liberal MPs in the upcoming federal election. “Holmes à Court has raised $7 million to fund their campaigns, and thankfully the (National) press club put a bit of heat on the climate activist who claimed bizarrely he will have no influence on what the candidates do,” Mr Houghton said. Mr Houghton spoke of his scepticism as to Holmes à Court’s promise to keep these candidates independent from his influence. “His own website appears to contradict this pledge,” Mr Houghton said. “Climate 200 is running a sophisticated strategic campaign against conservatives using data and funnelling those analytics back to candidates to help them win seats - there's nothing illegal about it, but at least have the courage to admit what you are doing,” he said.
