Israel needs to be aware there may be shifting sand in the future of its alliance with the United States amid a progressive Democrat caucus bent on pursuing policies "against the Israeli state", says Independent Women's Forum Dr Qanta Ahmed. It comes as the US Ambassador to Israel reportedly told participants in a webinar hosted by anti-Israel group BDS, "your agenda is where my heart is". "The progressive caucus is not a minority group in the Democratic Party ... it's approaching mainstream policies," Dr Ahmed said. "If they succeed they want to take away the United States' ability to veto and protect Israel in the United Nations and pursue almost South Africa-like policies against the Israeli state. However, Dr Ahmed said it doesn't excuse the Israeli settlements in the region from being "problematic". "Many Israeli's object to the settlements and know that that undermines stability in the region – but this is a very concerning sympathy that someone in a senior position representing the United States is sharing."
