The challenge for all states now is to ‘get rid’ of vaccine mandates ‘immediately’

South Australia has scrapped its vaccine mandate for police officers after the government received pressure, including from a legal challenge, to remove the order, according to Sky News host Chris Kenny. “That allowed a couple of hundred unvaccinated police officers to return to the frontline,” Mr Kenny said. The vaccine mandate has also been scrapped for teachers and public transport workers in South Australia. “It's taken too long, of course, the science, the evidence, supports scrapping these vaccine mandates and has done for a long while because the vaccines, while they protect us, of course, from serious illness, they don't stop us catching and spreading the disease. “So, the challenge now is for all the other states to get rid of these vaccine mandates immediately.” The Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation strongly advises that the highest priority for providing optimal community-wide protection against COVID-19 is achieving very high vaccination coverage for all eligible Australians.
