Texans Awake to Snow as Cold Weather Hits State

Citizens in north and central Texas woke up to snow, sleet, ice, and low temperatures on February 3, as a cold front moved over the Lone Star State. Footage posted by Hamid Kamran shows large flakes covering a back yard in Dallas, Texas, on the morning of February 3. A National Weather Service Hazardous Weather Outlook issued for north and central Texas warned of “accumulating ice, sleet, and snow” and “dangerously cold temperatures” throughout Thursday and into Friday. Driving conditions were described in the outlook as “dangerous”. The City of Dallas stated on their website that they had opened warming stations at locations including libraries, and cancelled garbage collections on February 3, according to their Facebook page. Dallas Area Rapid Transit stated on Facebook that it had cancelled its services from Thursday through to Sunday, while Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport temporarily suspended operations on February 3, before opening two of its runways, according to their Twitter account.
