A church in St Andrews, Scotland, marked Queen Elizabeth II’s platinum jubilee with a carillon recital tribute on February 6. This video, recorded by Callum MacLeod, City Carillonneur of the Royal Burgh of St Andrews and Community Councillor, shows MacLeod playing a selection of songs on the church’s carillon, including “I Vow to Thee, My Country” and “Chariots of Fire.” “The [church] bells were cast in 1926, the year of the Queen’s birth,” MacLeod said. In a statement the queen said, “As I look ahead with a sense of hope and optimism to the year of my Platinum Jubilee, I am reminded of how much we can be thankful for. These last seven decades have seen extraordinary progress socially, technologically and culturally that have benefited us all; and I am confident that the future will offer similar opportunities to us and especially to the younger generations in the United Kingdom and throughout the Commonwealth.” Credit: The Royal Burgh of St Andrews Community Council via Storyful
