Officials provided an update to the media on Thursday morning, June 2, hours after a man shot and killed four people and himself at a hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Police said the shooter, a man, was targeting Dr Preston Phillips, who had performed a back surgery that left the suspect in ongoing pain. According to police, the gunman had a letter on him indicating his intent to kill Dr Phillips and any others in his way. Phillips was among the four killed, as well as Dr Stephanie Husen, Amanda Green, and William Love. Both doctors were working at the time of the shooting; Tulsa police said Green and Love were a receptionist and a patient, respectively. Authorities said the suspect purchased an AR-15 rifle on Wednesday, the day of the shooting. His wife called police soon after she learned of her husband’s plans, the Tulsa Police Department said. The chief of police said there were reports that one of the victims was holding the door open for someone else to escape when they were shot and killed.
