Sky News host Rita Panahi has expressed her shock over how Prime Minister Scott Morrison feeling blessed to have healthy children is apparently some sort of "terrible slight" against the disabled community. It follows backlash Mr Morrison faced over his choice of words during an answer about the National Disability Insurance Scheme. The Prime Minister and Opposition leader Anthony Albanese went head-to-head in front of 100 undecided voters in Brisbane at the People's Forum presented by Sky News Australia and the Courier Mail on Wednesday night. A member of the crowd, Catherine, who has a four-year-old autistic son, asked the leaders what the NDIS would look like under their governments. Mr Morrison asked for the name of Catherine's son before he went into his answer. "Jenny and I have been blessed," he responded. "We've got two children that haven't had to go through that. "And so for parents with children who are disabled, I can only try to understand your aspiration for your children." Ms Panahi said only the "most depraved" interpretation would conclude the Prime Minister meant disabled children were not a blessing. "It's sad that this needs to be said but the PM and Jenny Morrison feeling blessed to have two healthy daughters doesn't mean that every child isn't a blessing," she said.
