Author Steve Mosher says China has gotten what it wanted with Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine. “They bogged down their two rivals in Europe, Russia and the United States are bogged down in Europe, and they believe that over time that will allow them to dominate the Indo-Pacific,” he told Sky News Australia. “They encouraged Russia to go into Ukraine and now they’re telling Putin to make a negotiated settlement. “They’re not happy that Putin recognised a regional right to declare independence by two breakaway Ukrainian provinces. “Think of what that means in the case of Taiwan. “That’s why you hear the recent noise from Beijing about respecting national sovereignty.” Mr Mosher has been on the case of standing up to the Chinese Communist Party for the last 25 years. “We hoped in 1980s that China would go our way,” Mr Mosher said. “But we found that China wasn’t going our way. The Tiananmen massacre woke us up to the fact that China was going to remain a repressive, one-party dictatorship under the misrule of the Chinese Communist Party.”
