Staff shortages were being cited by airlines and at airports around the UK on April 4 as long waits and flight cancellations continued to hit travelers. Twitter user @PDawson1970 posted this video, showing a long line at Terminal 2 of Manchester Airport. The BBC quoted the airport as saying staff shortages and sickness had put operations “under extreme pressure”. Delays were also reported at Heathrow Airport, which also had staff shortages. EasyJet and British Airways cancelled hundreds of flights over the weekend and into Monday, the Independent said. Manchester Airport apologised via Twitter. “As we continue to recover from the pandemic and passenger numbers grow, security queues may be longer than usual at times. If you’re due to travel in the next few weeks, please arrive at the earliest time your airline allows. We apologise to our customers for the disruption,” the airport said. The source of this video said it took an hour to get through security. “Not too bad. Staff are doing a great job under difficult circumstances,” they tweeted. Credit: @PDawson1970 via Storyful
