The third Taiwan Film Festival Edinburgh is underway in Scotland, underscoring the government’s commitment to bringing homegrown creators to audiences in the U.K., according to the Ministry of Culture March 25.   Organized by the Taipei Representative Office in the U.K. and supported by the MOC, this year’s edition is expanded to run from March to November. A total of 20 productions will be screened at locations from Edinburgh and Glasgow to Inverness and the Orkney Islands in partnership with institutions such as Regional Screen Scotland and Scottish Poetry Library, the MOC said.   Headlining the delegation for the TFFE 2022 are “Girl in the Water,” an animated short by director Huang Shi-rou; “The Price of Democracy,” a documentary by Liao Jian-hua; and “Among Us,” a documentary by Lin Cheng-Sheng. The other films are “Le Moulin,” a documentary by Huang Ya-li; as well as “Grandma and Her Ghosts,” a restored animated work by Wang Shau-di.   According to Liu Kuan-ping, chief curator of TFFE, the theme of the festival is “The (un)Usuals.” The pieces showcased explore how the politics of social change, mass movements and personal identity shape our notions of ordinary and extraordinary, he said.   Founded in 2020, the TFFE harnesses the power of film to deepen cultural dialogue between the people of Taiwan and the U.K. (DL-E)   Write to Taiwan Today at ttonline@mofa.gov.tw
