A donation drive to assist Ukrainian nationals who have been displaced by the Russian invasion was announced March 5 by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.   In a statement, the MOFA said private donations of goods are being accepted between March 7 and 18 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Collected items will be sent to neighboring European countries to help Ukrainian refugees, the ministry added.   The move follows the shipment of 27 tons of medical supplies donated to Ukraine Feb. 28 and a fund set up to assist the dislocated March 2, the MOFA said, adding that the initiatives underscore Taiwan’s support for the east European country in its time of need.   According to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, more than 1 million people are estimated to have fled to countries such as Poland and Slovakia since Russia invaded Ukraine Feb. 24.   As a responsible member of the international community, the country is committed to demonstrating that Taiwan Can Help Ukraine by participating in international aid efforts, the MOFA said.   In a tweet on the MOFA’s official Twitter account, Foreign Minister Jaushieh Joseph Wu said “As the #PRC continues to align with #Russia, #Taiwan is ready to take another step to #StandWithUkraine. We're planning to assist the dislocated with donations. Taiwanese are saying loudly: We want to help! My response: Your help will be delivered soon.” (DL-E)   Write to Taiwan Today at ttonline@mofa.gov.tw
