San Jose standoff ends after homicide suspect shot by police and taken to hospital
LATEST June 22, 8:156 a.m. A police standoff ended Wednesday morning after a homicide suspect was shot by police and taken to a local hospital, officials said.
The San Jose Police Department said in a statement on Twitter that the suspect pointed a firearm at an officer.
Police department spokesperson Christian Camarillo told ABC 7 the suspect is wanted for two murders Tuesday night, one in San Jose and one in Modesto.
June 22, 6:55 a.m. Police in San Jose were actively engaged in a standoff on Wednesday morning with a homicide suspect who was firing shots at officers, officials said.
The San Jose Police Department said in a series of tweets that the suspect had barricaded himself inside a home or a shed in the 100 block of Bendorf Drive in a residential neighborhood a few blocks east of the Edenvale Shopping Center.
Police said they believe suspect is responsible for shooting and killing a man on Tuesday night in the 1400 block of Mt. Shasta Drive, police said.
The suspect fired a gun at officers on Wednesday during a pursuit, police said.
Officials evacuated some residents in the area due to the suspect firing additional shots while behind the barricade, the tweet said.
"He was shooting at Officers and is armed and dangerous," police said.
On Tuesday, a man was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died.
