Prime Minister Scott Morrison says the “five point plan to grow the economy” has worked as unemployment has dropped and taxes are down. “By keeping taxes low and cutting red tape, by ensuring they're investing in the skills and infrastructure and growing our workforce that a growing economy needs,” he said. “We've got a million more women into work, youth unemployment is now below ten per cent for the first time since 2008 and we've got our sights set on an unemployment rate with a three in front of it this year.” Mr Morrison said the government needed to ensure Australia had reliable, reduced emission energy and “one of the biggest and most successful digital and data economies in the world” through jobs. “That's how you get unemployment with a three in front of it in the middle of a global pandemic and that's what this is all about, it's about jobs,” he said. “That's what we're focused on, one of the strongest economic recoveries through the pandemic of any country, advanced economy, in the world.”
