For the second time this year, Mumbai recorded its lowest Air Quality Index (AQI) with an AQI of 13 on Monday. Other cities like Delhi, Pune and Ahmedabad recorded an AQI of 49, 20 and 40 respectively.

The lower the AQI value, the cleaner the air, while a higher AQI indicates a greater level of air pollution and health concerns.

As per data from the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR), Mumbai’s AQI can go even lower (up to 11) on Tuesday. The lowest AQI ever recorded by the city was 12 AQI in 2019.

Meanwhile, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted cloudy weather with moderate rainfall in the city and suburbs for the next two days.

According to IMD official, K S Hosalikar, the Konkan belt and nearby regions have been experiencing very heavy rainfall while Mumbai and Thane have remained cloudy and can expect moderate rainfall.

On Monday, the minimum temperature recorded in Santacruz was 25.6 °C and the maximum was 32.9°C, also the relative humidity was 93%.

While Colaba experienced a minimum temperature of 26.0 °C and a maximum temperature of 30.0 °C with a relative humidity of 90%.
