Agartala: At a time when Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is taking out victory rally in Tripura for winning three out of four Assembly seats in the bypoll, Trinamool Congress is planning to strengthen their organization ahead of the 2023 bypolls scheduled next year.

TMC national secretary Abhishek Banerjee said that the TMC will not sit back till they restore democracy in Tripura.

“TMC has pledged to stand by the people of Tripura including those who don’t even support TMC. TMC will address the problems of the people in Tripura and will implement all the developmental schemes of Bengal even in Tripura. Till democracy is restored there (Tripura), TMC won’t sit back,” said Banerjee.

TMC state president Subal Bhowmick said that TMC will ‘strengthen’ further ahead of the 2023 polls.

“BJP didn’t come to power suddenly in 2018. Even they had to struggle. Currently our organization is weak and we will work more to strengthen the organization ahead of the 2023 election,” said Bhowmick.

Bhowmick also mentioned that soon they will plan ways to increase their mass connect to make TMC more powerful.

“Poor performance in bypolls does not reflect the general mindset of the electorate. The future of TMC is bright in the 2023 elections. There were some weaknesses and a lack of continuity from the party’s side but all those will be overcome. The BJP government is about to change in 2023,” further mentioned Bhowmick.

According to Trinamool Congress sources, the party workers and leaders already started ‘reviewing’ the reason for the poll debacle.

The TMC sources also confirmed that though they have people’s support they could not build a ‘vote bank’.
