Jitendra Kumar on performing magic in Netflix's 'Jaadugar': 'My trainer advised me that until I did a show, I wouldn't pass'
Netflix’s upcoming film - 'Jaadugar' is a sports dramedy family entertainer that dives into the story of Meenu, a striving magician who lacks any sort of athletic ability, that becomes a worry when you reside in a football-obsessed town, Meenu belonged to Neemuch, where people were very passionate about football.
While his heart is set on marrying his true love, he must first be victorious in the extremely sought after inter-colony football tournament. In this sport, comedy and magic medley, watch when friendships are tested and love is conquered again.
In the film, Jitendra Kumar takes on the role of the protagonist Meenu, a small-time magic aficionado hailing from the football fanatic town of Neemuch, who is unlucky in love and in athletic skill.
Discussing his training for the magic scenes in Jaadugar, Jitendra Kumar who plays Meenu, shared, “I began training for the magic tricks back in November 2020 and it was quite a long and tedious journey which lasted for around a month and half. My trainer strongly advised me that until I did a show, I wouldn't pass. This was back when the lockdown still prevailed, so we organized a virtual zoom show. I had meticulously set up the lights and props to ensure people would get tricked and I’ll pass, well it worked! I successfully tricked them with a lot of music as well (chuckles). Doing the show definitely gave me a confidence boost and helped me hone my skills better. Following this I did two additional training sessions and later I did a show on a stage along with props, and also performed a street show with a close group. I realized when the audience is small - there are no lights and no music to aid you and you have to trick people, which is tougher as people can catch things.”
The film is directed by Samir Saxena, produced by Posham Pa Pictures and Chalkboard Entertainment and stars Jitendra Kumar, Javed Jaaferi and Arushi Sharma in the leading roles.
