Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Congress mayoral candidate Sanjay Shukla, on Monday, during his election campaign rally in Rau constituency, promised citizens to terminate the garbage collection tax which is being collected by the corporation from the city’s residents.

Shukla, along with MLA Jitu Patwari and ward No. 81 candidate for corporator from the Congress Nitin Jain, was on an election campaign in the ward area.

Shukla said during the campaign that, along with property tax, cleanliness tax is also charged extensively by Indore Municipal Corporation. Along with this, cleanliness tax is also collected through other means. Apart from this, an amount for cleanliness is also being recovered in the form of door-to-door garbage collection charge. I’ll abolish this tax after becoming mayor.

He clarified, “Abolition of this tax doesn’t mean that there will be any compromise with the cleanliness of Indore. I want to make it clear that whatever needs to be done to keep Indore No, 1 in cleanliness will be done. The only difference will be that we won’t charge the citizens a monthly garbage collection tax.”
