Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Municipal commissioner Pratibha Pal terminated the services of three permanent employees of Indore Municipal Corporation for trying to sabotage proceedings against beldar Aslam Khan, who was sacked after the Lokayukta police found disproportionate income with him. The trio of employees include the brother of Aslam Khan.

The sacked employees are garden department sub-inspector Iqbal Khan, establishment department babu Abid Khan and establishment department clerk-in-charge Mehfooz Khan. The trio was sacked after a departmental inquiry found allegations against them to be true.

The order related to the dismissal of beldar Aslam Khan were given by the municipal commissioner on January 19, 2021, but was not issued by the establishment department babu Abid Khan till July 4, 2021. He put on hold the commissioner’s order, thereby stopping the dismissal of Aslam for six months without any reason and without bringing it to the notice of the senior officers. Abid’s act was aimed at giving undue advantage to Aslam and to get personal benefit in return.

After his dismissal order was issued on July 5, 2021, Aslam had filed an appeal with the division commissioner’s office. As Abid was with the establishment department, he knew about it, but he hid the fact that Aslam was booked for corruption and investigations by the Lokayukta police were on against him. He did not even inform the higher-ups about Aslam’s appeal. thereby indirectly helping Aslam. On March 9, he was suspended and a departmental inquiry was ordered against him.

After the Lokayukta started investigations against him, the municipal commissioner suspended Aslam Khan. However, beldar and clerk-in-charge Mehfooz Khan delayed preparations of the chargesheet, thereby favouring Aslam. Besides, he gave misleading information regarding Aslam to the deputy director of the revenue department, ministry of finance, providing undue advantage to him.
