Despite BJP’s repeated claims that the present political crisis after Eknath Shinde led rebellion was an internal matter of Shiv Sena and party was on wait and watch mode, the former chief minister Devendra Fadnavis has swiftly moved in action mode and flew to Delhi along with Rajya Sabha member and leading lawyer Mahesh Jethmalani to discuss political and legal issues ahead of formation of a government along with breakaway Shiv Sena group. Fadnavis has reportedly met the union home minister Amit Shah and party president JP Nadda on the nitigrities of the government formation with breakaway Shiv Sena group. BJP has called all its 106 legislators and independents and smaller parties supporting it in the state assembly to arrive at Mumbai on Wednesday and stay in the city at least till Sunday. Fadnavis is expected to meet party legislators individually.

BJP insiders claim the floor test will happen on June 30 and the swearing in by Sunday.

Sources privy to BJP’s strategy told the Free Press Journal, ‘’BJP will not come out of the picture as of now. Independent Bacchu Kadu is expected to submit a letter on Wednesday after the Amavasya ends to the Governor BS Koshyari on withdrawal of support by independents to the Maha Vikas Aghadi government and urged him to ask CM Uddhav Thackeray to prove majority in the state assembly. Thereafter, the Governor will ask the government to call a session on June 30 wherein the Thackeray led government will face the floor test. At this juncture, BJP will step in for the defeat of MVA government in the state assembly.’’ Sources said During the floor test, Shinde camp may remain absent to avoid action disqualification.

After winning the floor test, the Governor will invite the opposition to form the government when Shinde camp will open its cards as it may merge with BJP. Simultaneously, BJP will press for the Speaker’s election and the saffron party expects that the new speaker will take care of the ongoing legal battle which is slated for next hearing on July 11 in the Supreme Court.

According to a few BJP legislators, the new government will be sworn in by Sunday. ‘’In the new government, BJP will get 26 ministerial berths and 16 to Shinde camp and independents. Besides, Shinde camp will be accommodated in key government undertakings and corporations,’’ a senior BJP legislator said adding that the party will soon finalise its plan in this regard.
