Xiaomi is one more smartphone brand that has partnered with a legacy camera company. The Chinese smartphone maker has joined hands with the German camera brand named Leica. Some of you may know that Leica was previously a partner of Huawei and was behind trailblazers like the Huawei P30 Pro. So, now that it will be featured in a Xiaomi phone, that could be something worth looking out for.
The promo images shared as part of the press release reads, “The defining moment. The New Era.” This will be a “strategic partnership in imagery technology” and a “long term” one at that.
Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun has said that this strategic cooperation will bring about “unprecedented in-depth collision and fusion in optical design, aesthetic orientations, image preferences, and innovative technologies.”
As you see, these are all pretty much marketing language and they don’t tell anything meaningful. But, we can fairly guess that the device in question is Xiaomi 12 Ultra.
Here’s what we know about the device —
Xiaomi 12 Ultra Specs and Features (Expected)Via: Slashleaks
Starting off with the camera itself, Xiaomi 12 Ultra is said to feature the same set of cameras as its predecessor. That means a troika comprising a 50MP primary camera, a 48MP ultrawide snapper, and a 48MP telephoto lens. What Leica brings to the table is something to be seen.
The front camera could come within a punch-hole. This screen could be a 2K Samsung display with a 120Hz refresh rate.

Inside, the phone could carry the recently launched Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1.
That’s more or less what we could scour from the rumour mill. We will update you on more details about the device as and when we have more info.
