Samsung Galaxy S22 series to launch in India on February 17: Heres what you can expect
Samsung has announced that it will be unveiling the Galaxy S22 series in India on February 17 at 12:30 PM (IST). The online event would be live-streamed across Samsung’s YouTube channel and other social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter. The press release shared with the media notes that customers who have pre-reserved the phone(s) will be gifted a free Galaxy SmartTag as well as other pre-booking offers. As for the phones themselves, we already know that they will come bearing the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip inside. And here’s everything else you need to know.
Samsung Galaxy S22 Series Indian Price and Availability (expected)Samsung Galaxy S22 debuted in the global markets at a starting price of $799 (~₹59,900), while the Galaxy S22+ at $999 (~₹75,000), and the Galaxy S22 Ultra at $1,199 (~₹ 90,000).
Now the Indian pricing will be known at tomorrow’s event only. But, if some recent reports are to be believed, the Galaxy S22 would launch in India at a starting price of ₹69,900, and the top-end Galaxy S22 Ultra would start at ₹1,09,900. The price of the middle one, i.e., the Galaxy S22+ wasn’t reported. And more importantly, the actual prices may differ. So, let’s tune in to the live event for the proper details.
Coming to what’s being offered in the devices, here’s what you can look forward to:
Samsung Galaxy S22 Series: What’s newThis year, Samsung has set apart the Ultra model with a distinct look from the rest. It has been Note-ified, if you will. It feels as if Samsung took up from where it left off the Galaxy Note lineup last to last year, but named the new device — Galaxy S22 Ultra. Samsung has removed the island and placed the cameras right on the rear surface. These sensors are a 108MP (Dual Pixel AF) primary one, a 10MP (10x periscope telephoto), a 10MP (3x optical telephoto), and a 12MP (120˚ ultrawide) snapper.
Both the vanilla S22 and S22 Plus, meanwhile have a rear camera bump similar to the S21 series, but with some change in sensors. Well, the setup now includes a 50MP (Dual Pixel AF, OIS) main sensor, a 10MP (3x telephoto with OIS) secondary sensor, and a third 12MP (120° ultrawide) snapper.
On the front, you get 40MP on the Galaxy S22 Ultra and a 10MP on both Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22+.
Other things in the mix are One UI 4.1 (based on Android 12), LPDDR5 RAM, UFS 3.1, storage, 5000mAh+ 45W on the Galaxy S22 Ultra to 4500mAh +25W on the Galaxy S22 Plus, and 3700mAh+ 25W on the regular Galaxy S22.
