Voters ‘will not tolerate’ Labor ‘pretending’ to be bipartisan on China

Sky News host Chris Kenny says Labor pretending to be bipartisan on standing up to China but attacking the government when it does so is a “level of hypocrisy” voters “will not tolerate”. Mr Kenny said Labor was “screaming” about Prime Minister Scott Morrison calling Deputy Labor Leader Richard Marles a ‘Manchurian Candidate’ on Wednesday. He said while this remark was a “typical rhetorical overreach”, the real point is “Beijing wants Labor to win”. "Every criticism Beijing makes ... the wildly threatening and overblown criticism that has come from China, has targeted the Coalition government's actions, so of course they want the government gone - unsurprisingly, Labor hates anybody pointing any of this out. "Listen to Labor's most recent foreign minister, Bob Carr, claim that Australia took a 'tilt' against China – he went on to say, exactly what Beijing would want Australian politicians to say, and that is that the fault is on our side. "The politics are not limited to one side of the political aisle, and it's obvious that China policy on the Labor side is not rock-solid and incontestable; it's a live debate within Labor ranks."
